What's the game about

Can anything be more adorable than this game? I don't think so!

Flamecraft Duals is a standalone game for one or two players, set in the same wonderful world as Flamecraft. Artisan dragons love to have fun โ€” and you help them find their place. You draw colorful dragon tokens from a bag, place them on a hexagonal board, activate their abilities, and try to match patterns on your secret shop cards.

Sandara Tang's artwork is so beautiful you just want to sit and stare. The tokens โ€” even in the basic version โ€” are breathtaking. Every dragon has its own character, every element is polished to perfection.

๐ŸŽฏ Goal of the game

You score reputation points for shop cards. When the pattern on your card matches the arrangement of dragons on the board โ€” you claim it. Most reputation points at the end wins.

In solo mode you must complete all fountain cards before tokens or cards run out โ€” and trust me, it's BRUTALLY frustrating. In the best possible way.

๐Ÿƒ How a turn works

Each turn has three phases:

PLAY โ€” Draw and place a dragon ๐Ÿ‰ Draw a token from the bag (no peeking!) and place it on the board โ€” on an empty space or on a stack (max three tokens). Then you may fire up the dragon's ability.

Six dragon types, each with a unique ability: ๐Ÿž Bread โ€” draw another dragon and place it ๐Ÿ’Ž Crystal โ€” pull three, keep one, return the rest ๐Ÿฅฉ Meat โ€” move an adjacent dragon anywhere โš”๏ธ Iron โ€” move two adjacent dragons one space each ๐Ÿงช Potion โ€” swap any two dragons ๐ŸŒฟ Plant โ€” fire up an adjacent dragon's ability

Plus dual-colored dragons that count as either type!

SCORE โ€” Claim cards โญ Check if the dragon arrangement on the board matches a pattern on your card. If it does โ€” you claim it!

REFRESH โ€” Draw cards ๐Ÿƒ Draw cards to fill your hand (max two). Turn passes to your opponent.

At any point before REFRESH you can spend a coin to draw two cards and swap two from your hand โ€” but unspent coins are worth points at the end!

๐Ÿ† How to win (real tips)

  • Don't ignore dragon abilities. Firing up is key โ€” moving, swapping, and chaining combos can change everything in one turn.

  • Plant + Plant = combo. Plant fires up an adjacent dragon, which can be another Plant. Chain activations are powerful.

  • Save your coins. Each unspent coin is a point at game end. Spend only when you really need to swap cards.

  • Think in stacks. Three tokens per space is the limit โ€” plan what's on top, because only the top dragon counts for patterns.

  • Dual dragons are gold. They count as two types โ€” use them to close tricky patterns.

  • Solo: plan two turns ahead. You must complete at least one card or spend a coin every turn โ€” don't get caught off guard.

๐ŸŒฟ Why this game is special

  • Sandara Tang's art โ€” among the most beautiful in the industry, tokens are breathtaking

  • Solo mode is brilliantly frustrating โ€” you always want to try again

  • Perfect for two โ€” fast, intimate, competitive

  • Infinitely replayable โ€” thirty minutes fly by like one

  • Better than Flamecraft? Yes. I said it.

  • Bag building + pattern matching = addiction in its purest form

๐Ÿ’€ Why it's not perfect

  • Two players max โ€” can't bring to a bigger group

  • Bag randomness โ€” sometimes you draw what you don't need

  • If you don't know Flamecraft, the theme might not grab you immediately

โ˜• My impressions

Can anything be more adorable than this game? I don't think so!

The artwork on the cards and the tokens โ€” even in the basic version โ€” are breathtaking and impossible to put down. Perfect solo and as a duo.

And it's so frustratingly good solo that you always want to try again. It's infinitely replayable. I thought you couldn't make a better game than Flamecraft, but this is even better. Thirty minutes pass like one, it pulls you in like a whirlpool โ€” I played several Saturdays in a row for hours on end.

I love this game. And how can someone make something this beautiful?!

The dragons have abilities that chain into unexpected combos โ€” Plant activates a neighbor, which activates another, and suddenly the whole board shifts. In solo mode it's a race against time โ€” you must close a card or spend a coin every turn, so the pressure builds with each round. And in two-player mode? Someone draws the exact dragon you needed โ€” you could breathe fire at them!

This is a game I come back to every week. And every time I discover something new.

๐ŸŽฏ Final score: 10/10

More beautiful than Flamecraft. More addictive than Flamecraft. Thirty minutes of pure magic. A must-have for anyone who loves dragons, beautiful games, and solid solo play. ๐Ÿ‰โœจ
